I am an avid reader of all thing Arthurian and also a chemist. I had no idea that Edward Percy Frankland was a chemist as well as an author. I knew about his grandfather, Edward Frankland. Needless to say, I was entranced by Dr. Helga Frankland's account of her families involvement with Ravenstonedale. Frankland's novel "The Bear of Britain" is not only a great read, but it was also well ahead of its time in establishing a more factual King Arthur versus the romanticized version. The historical Arthur is now en vogue, but in 1944, Frankland was visionary in his book.
